Overwhelmed
with the number of results you get when
searching for something? With nearly a billion
web pages on the Internet today it's no
surprise! Here are some suggestions on how to
narrow your search results and get closer to
what you are actually looking
for...
Use
the minus ( - ) sign before a word
Example:
lincoln -movie -tv would take out all the
pages that relate to Lincoln as a movie or TV
show
Use
the plus ( + ) sign before a word
Example:
white house +history +government would
include all the pages that relate to the
White House in Washington, D.C.
Use
a t colon ( t: ) in front of a word for the
pages that are a title
Example:
t:huck finn will give you pages that relate
to the title Huck Finn
Use
quotes ( " " ) with your words in a search to
get only those exact words as they appear
together in the same order
Example:
"president of the united states" will give
only the pages that are with that
title
If
you want to broaden your search use a wildcard
search by placing an asterisk in a word
replacing a character or multiple
characters
Example:
myth* would return results for both mythology
and mythical
